Deer Nutrition and Food Plots

Food plots have become very popular in recent years. Many hunters have successfully employed food plots in their quality deer management program, while many others have only grown frustration.

Deer require about one and a half tons of food per year. Food plots are a great way to make sure that they get the nutrition they need. In order to get maximum benefits, your plots must have a variety of crops that are available to deer throughout the year. Some good choices are clover, brassica, winter wheat and corn.

This variety will ensure that your deer are well fed, and give them a reason to stay close by all year long. You don't want to feed deer all summer long only to have them move out in search of a new food source when hunting season arrives!
