Hunting Cornfield Edges

Corn is a preferred food source for deer all across the country. It's nutritious and it tastes good. We've all heard to hunt the food to find deer, but how do you pinpoint the best spot to set up along the edge of a 50 acre cornfield?

First, take the opportunity now to walk around the field and observe where the ends of corn stalks are nibbled off. Deer nibble from the top of the stalk down. If you see stalks that are broken off and lying on the ground, it was the work of a hungry raccoon, not a deer.

You're looking for an area along the edge of the field where there are a lot of stalks nibbled off. This will tell you what part of the field the deer are working the hardest. When you find a spot like this start looking for paths leading from the corn back into the woods. Walk back along the path and look for a good place to set up your stand.

Like always, you'll want to keep in mind wind direction when picking your tree. If you don't see any bucks entering the corn from your stand you may need to move deeper in the woods as bucks may not appear in the open before dark.
