For the Record: Two Ralphs, Two Bucks
Ever since I started interviewing hunters for this column, I dreamed of killing a big buck. It didn't even have to be a record book buck. Just a good, quality whitetail would do. My dad has always felt the same way. My dad (Ralph Jr.) and I (Ralph III) are taxidermists, and over the past twenty years we've seen more monster bucks than most people see in their entire lives. I was never jealous of anyone who killed a nice buck. I've always been the first to congratulate someone on their trophy -- after all, their success was our good fortune in the taxidermy shop.
