Don't Get Burned By Your Grunt Call

Printer-Friendly Format

Many bowhunters will hang their grunt calls around their neck while hunting. Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT do this.

I know of three people who's lanyard accidentally got caught up in their bow string upon releasing an arrow. In two of the cases, the lanyard broke and only caused a missed shot. The third case was not so fortunate. His lanyard did not break, and that hunter now has a scar around the back of his neck as a result.

I suggest you carry your calls in a pocket or hang them from a bow hook. The convenience offered by the lanyard hanging around your neck isn't worth the risk.
